Built on more than 25 years of crash investigation

Kerley Reconstruction delivers accurate, evidence-based accident reconstruction for the people who have to stand behind the findings.

Veteran-owned, investigator-led

Michael Kerley formed Kerley Reconstruction in 2024 after a career that began as a U.S. Army Military Police officer and accident reconstructionist, and continued through the Denver Police Department, the Colorado State Patrol and the Garden City Police Department, where he oversaw the Motorcycle and Traffic Accident Unit.

He is ACTAR accredited, a Drug Recognition Expert instructor and an SFST instructor, and he teaches accident and motorcycle reconstruction to officers and consultants through several training organizations. That standard of training runs through the whole team.

How we work with you

A clear, transparent process from the first call to the final report.

  1. Initial consultation

It starts with a phone call or email. We schedule a consultation to discuss your case in detail.

  2. Conflict check

Before we proceed, we run a conflict check. Once cleared, you receive a retainer agreement covering scope, timelines and fees.

  3. On-site investigation

Our team documents the scene with photography and 3D mapping, collects physical evidence such as tire marks and debris, and inspects the vehicles involved.

  4. Data analysis

We analyze vehicle data, telematics and witness statements, build models of the sequence of events, and apply physics-based calculations for speed and impact forces.

  5. Consultation and reporting

We present our findings and advise on next steps, whether you need expert testimony, a detailed report or strategic recommendations.

  • Attorneys

For the plaintiff or the defense: accident reconstruction, forensic animation, vehicle data interpretation and clear expert testimony.

  • Insurance companies

Independent analysis that clarifies how a loss occurred and supports accurate, defensible claim decisions.

  • Trucking and transportation

FMCSA compliance reviews of driver logs, maintenance records and operations, plus post-collision reconstruction.

  • Law enforcement and prosecutors

DUI/DRE reconstruction and impaired-driving analysis from certified DRE and SFST instructors.
