Fire, Arson & Hood System Investigations

Kerley Reconstruction offers arson and commercial kitchen hood system investigations. Our team includes specialists with hands-on experience in fire suppression systems, including prior work with Johnson Controls (Tyco / SimplexGrinnell). We examine suppression system design, installation, maintenance, activation and performance, document scene and system evidence, and provide clear, defensible analysis for attorneys and insurers handling fire, arson, product-liability and restaurant or commercial kitchen loss cases.

What we examine

  • Suppression system design and installation review
  • Inspection, service and maintenance record analysis
  • Activation, detection and agent discharge evaluation
  • Scene, hood, duct and appliance documentation
  • Product-liability and code compliance review

Commercial Kitchen Hood and Suppression Systems

Restaurant and commercial kitchen fires often turn on a single question: did the suppression system do what it was designed to do? We examine the hood, duct, nozzle placement, detection links, fuel shut-off and agent discharge against the system's design, the manufacturer's requirements and its service history. Where a system failed to activate, activated late or discharged incompletely, we document why, and whether installation, maintenance or the equipment itself was the cause.

Fire Scene Documentation

Fire scenes change quickly once cleanup and restoration begin. Our team documents the scene, the affected appliances and the suppression components through photographs, measurements and organized inspection records, preserving the evidence an origin-and-cause analysis depends on and keeping a clean chain of custody for every component we examine.

Arson and Loss Case Support

For suspected arson and contested fire losses, we work alongside attorneys, insurers and origin-and-cause investigators to evaluate how the fire developed and how protective systems performed. Our findings are written to be clear to a jury and to stand up to opposing expert review.
